主要从事中药品质形成的机制研究和天然药物的开发。

先后主持国家自然科学基金青年和面上项目、浙江省杰出青年科学基金项目、浙江省自然科学基金一般探索项目、浙江省基础公益项目、宁夏回族自治区重点研发计划、中国博士后科学基金特别资助和面上资助等科研项目,入选2020年度中国博士后科学基金资助者选介,同时参与完成5项国家基金面上、国家重点研发等国家级项目。已发表论文 110余篇,第一/通讯作者SCI论文60余篇(其中:中科院一区17篇),单篇最高被引250余次,被下载9700余次,中国知网高被引学者TOP5%;授权发明专利10余项;获得中国商业联合会科技一等奖、大北农科技二等奖、中国民族医药学会科学技术二等奖、浙江省优秀硕士学位论文指导教师、浙江理工大学先进工作者(2016/2022)。担任植物学经典期刊 Protoplasma (JCR Q2) 副主编 (Associate Editor),中医药SCI期刊《Chinese Herbal Medicine》青年编委,多个SCI期刊特约审稿人,全国林科优秀毕业生,农业部中药材高质量发展产业服务团专家,中华中医药学会中药鉴定分会委员、陕西省中药材 GAP 基地建设专家,陕西省中药协会专家委员会理事等。培养学生获得浙江省优秀硕士学位论文,7人获得国家奖学金、多人获得浙江省高校优秀毕业生等荣誉。
